What is Leicestershire Access Day (LAD)?

LAD is a day to promote and celebrate equal access to goods and services, jobs, sports and education for disabled which make up 20% of the population in Leicestershire. That is, 1 in 5 people within the county. Although wheelchair sign is universally seen as the sign of disability, 87% of disabilities are in fact invisible.

Our aim to raise awareness of disability, bridge the gaps between service providers and users and promote a positive image of disability. We see disabled people as being differently abled and wish to dispel the negative stereo types often portrayed the media.

Travel is such a big part of wheelchair rugby. Whether it’s training or traveling for competition, having an app that can easily and quickly find a suitable place to stay or eat is fantastic. Outside of rugby I like to visit different places with family. It’s not always easy finding a place that’s suitable at short notice. The last thing you want to do is waste time looking for a place to eat when you should be enjoying yourself.
